During March 2024, the City of Swan asked residents, pedestrians and road users along The Parkway, Ellenbrook about a proposed pedestrian island. Ellenbrook.

A pedestrian median island enables pedestrians to cross a road in two stages if they need to. The proposed island would create a crossing point into Ellenbrook Central shopping centre but would also involve the loss of nearby parking bays.

As the proposed island would affect traffic and pedestrian movement along The Parkway, we wanted to know if this project is supported by the local community.

Interested community members were asked to have their say by March 28, 2024.

RE: Notification of Works – The Parkway pedestrian refuge island, Ellenbrook

The City of Swan advises that it will shortly commence the installation of a new pedestrian refuge island at The Parkway, Ellenbrook. The work is being undertaken to improve pedestrian safety in this area.

The scope of this project includes installation of a new pedestrian refuge island to allow pedestrians to safely cross The Parkway in a staged approach. Please refer to attached plan, which shows the location of the proposed works.

Works will commence on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 between the hours of 7AM and 5PM and will be substantially completed within three weeks of commencement. The works may be extended in the event of inclement weather, contractor’s availabilities and/or unforeseen conditions.
