In late 2023 / early 2024 the City investigated options to activate local parks with the Caversham area. Caloria Park was selected as a potential site to receive additional infrastructure based on what community would like to see and to address gaps in demand in the surround area.
Based on community feedback, the City prepared an option to install a new netball half court near the current playground.
The City advertised and distributed a community survey in November/December 2024 to hear from the community about their level of support for this option and to understand any concerns.
In total we heard from 51 respondents with the majority of people living in Caversham.
Feedback will be reviewed by the Asset Management team to consider the next stage of the project.
Engagement summary
Based on the overall sentiment of the 51 responses the majority of people who answered the survey were in support of a new netball facility at Caloria Park. Almost twice as many either supported or strongly supported the proposal (57%, n=29) compared to those who do not support or do not support at all (29%, n=15). 14% of responses were neutral (n=7).
A strong sentiment heard by the project team was concern about the proposed half court location at the northern end. Based on that feedback the project team are now exploring the feasibility of locating the court at the southern end next to the existing basketball half court.
