The City has embarked on a public renewal project focused on improving Midland’s streets, aiming to revitalise and beautify the traditional Midland Town Centre. Forging Ahead: Midland’s Renewal will see $5 million invested over 5 years to improve the public realm and make Midland a greener, safer, and friendlier place for people to live, work and play. Changes you might see include the planting of trees and increased landscaping, improved footpaths, public art installations, and other small changes that will make a big difference to Midland.

The Midland Going 40 project is one part of Forging Ahead, as without lowering speed limits, especially along Great Eastern Highway and Victoria Street, the City will not be able to plant trees or make changes to improve Midland. By lowering the speed limit, Main Roads WA are more likely to support tree planting and other initiatives that will make our streets greener, cooler, and a much nicer place to be.

As part of the Midland Going 40 project these images show examples of the kinds of street improvements that could be explored if a 40km/h speed limit is introduced, such as more trees, seating, planting and spaces for people to stop and enjoy the Town Centre.
