Name

Amendment No. 236 to Local Planning Scheme No.17

Applicant-driven

Dynamic Planning and Developments on behalf of the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES)

Subject lands

Lot 312 and Lot 313 (No.160-162) Great Eastern Highway, Midvale

What is Changing?

The amendment proposes to reclassify the portion of Lot 312 and Lot 313 (No.160-162) Great Eastern Highway, Midvale that is a ‘Public Purpose - Fire & Emergency Services (FESA)’ Local Reserve to a ‘Highway Service’ zone.

Motivation

The Applicant submits the subject lands (owned by DFES) are surplus to emergency service requirements and can be divested, noting the site has been vacant since 2022 and that the Midland Fire Station is located nearby (approx. 700m north of the site). They contend the ‘Highway Service’ zone is appropriate as it is the same zone that applies to its neighbours that front Great Eastern Highway. This will facilitate consistency in terms of land use and development outcomes.
