The City of Swan is preparing the Malaga Local Area Plan (LAP) and wants to hear the community's vision and aspirations over the next five years.
Community consultation ran from February 3 to March 16, 2025, with in person events and pop-ups as well as a social media campaign. The consultation attracted:
- 436 survey responses; and
- 177 individual comments
The top five priorities are:
Supporting future business growth: Increase support for businesses by encouraging services for workers and surrounding residents (e.g. lunch bar, retail, restaurants, etc.)
Natural environment: Increase tree canopy cover and enhance the protection of natural environment assets.
Connectivity: Improving connectivity via public transport, and the cycle and pedestrian networks.
What’s next?
Council will consider the Malaga Local Area Plan at a future meeting (currently scheduled for August 2025), after which the full plan will be published on the City’s website. The City will then work to address the communities priorities for the next five years, providing an update annually to track our progress.
