History of Fauntleroy Park

🚜From Agricultural Showground to Community Bliss🌳
  • Back in the day (1883–1904), the Swan Districts Agricultural Society turned this patch of earth into a vibrant showground, complete with exotic tree plantings like the stately Eucalyptus cladocalyx and a ceremonial plough gifted by the Royal Agricultural Society. (Reference)
  • In 1905, the society moved on to Claremont, but their legacy stayed put—part of the showground beds became today’s leafy Fauntleroy Park. (Reference)
  • Today, locals love the park for it's charm, it's shady hideaways and serenity found under tall gums, the playground, and for gatherings in the soft grassy pockets left over from old show rings.

  • As a municipally listed heritage site, it draws occasional volunteers and curious wanderers wanting to glimpse Guildford’s agrarian roots under a leafy canopy.
Fauntleroy Park isn’t just a leftover corner—it’s one of Guildford’s living keepsakes, segueing from agricultural spectacle to local suburban haven. A stroll here is like reading Guildford’s memoirs—fun, reflective, and rooted in genuine community heart.
