The City consulted with the Ellenbrook community in February 2023 in relation to resident concerns around the increase in traffic in the area, particularly on Arbor Drive and Brookmount Drive. A local area traffic management study was undertaken to review these issues.

The Local Area Traffic Management Study has now been finalised. The City will be progressing with traffic calming measures along Brookmount Drive and Arbor Drive as a priority to address rat running behaviour on this route. Further information and consultation on these treatments with affected residents will follow in due course.

Please refer to the map below for a summary of some of the key improvements that are planned for implementation.

Brookmount Drive

The City of Swan advises that it will shortly commence road rehabilitation works and the installation of new raised platforms at Brookmount Drive, Ellenbrook. The work is being undertaken to improve traffic safety in this area.

The scope of this project includes road rehabilitation and the installation of three new raised safety platforms. The road reconstruction will take place on Brookmount Drive, between approximately 45 metres south of Arbor Drive and approximately 40 metres north of Granesse Drive. The new raised safety platforms will be positioned at three locations along Brookmount Drive, as indicated in green on the attached plans.

As part of the works, bus stop 23320 (Brookmount Drive after Molloy Lane) will be shifted approximately 15 metres to the south, as its current position would clash with the raised platform installation. This bus stop is included in the Public Transport Authority’s Bus Stop Accessibility Program and a new hardstand will be constructed at this location.

Works will commence on Monday, January 6, 2025 between the hours of 7AM and 5PM and will be substantially completed within six weeks of commencement. The works may be extended in the event of inclement weather, contractor’s availabilities and/or unforeseen conditions.

To accommodate the works and ensure the safety of the construction staff and the general public, traffic management measures will be implemented. Where possible, single-lane closures with stop/slow traffic controls will be used. However, for the majority of the road reconstruction and resurfacing works, full road closures will be implemented, with detours in place. Local traffic will be permitted through, and the road will be reopened at the end of each day shift.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the works please do not hesitate to contact the Project Manager.
