The City of Swan is creating a vibrant new mural on the basketball half court at the Ellenbrook Youth Centre.

Public art plays an important role in celebrating local stories, fostering creativity and strengthening community pride. This mural will transform the court into a space that not only inspires play and connection but also reflects the energy and spirit of Ellenbrook’s young people.

In late 2025 we invited the whole community, especially local youth and those who use the court, to share their thoughts on the look and feel of the artwork. Community feedback directly informed the artist brief, shaping the preferred colour palette, patterns and design elements.

Following this process, local artists Chris Nixon and Kyle Hughes-Odgers from Moving Colour Studio were selected to bring the mural to life.

Installation will take place over about 2-3 weeks, starting on Monday, May 4, 2026. During this time, access to the courts will be temporarily restricted to allow the artwork to be safely completed.
