The City is preparing a new local planning scheme called “Draft Local Planning Scheme No. 18” (Draft LPS No.18) to replace the current Local Planning Scheme No. 17 which can be viewed on the City of Swan's Planning Information Page. Local planning schemes are required by law for the improvement, development and use of land. The Western Australian Planning Commission’s (WAPC’s) instructions to the City for preparing Draft Local Planning Scheme No. 18 can be found in the document library.

At its meeting of 13 March 2024, Council resolved to advertise Draft Local Planning Scheme No. 18: see Council Report located in the document library for full resolution and details.

Before public advertising of Draft LPS No.18 can begin, it must be forwarded to the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) and WAPC for assessment. This can take up to 90 days (or longer if approved by the Minister/authorised person). This project page will be updated once the EPA and WAPC’s assessments are complete.

Public consultation phase to come, this page will be updated with details.
