The City has received an application for an existing Home Business at Lot 26 (No.11) Camargue Drive, Brigadoon. Details of the existing business are outlined below:

  • Commercial gutter & roof cleaning business
  • Business employs two (2) members of the household and four (4) additional employees.
  • Three (3) vehicles and box trailers used for the business and parked within the lot when not in use
  • Study (16 m²) & shed (16 m²) used as part of business
  • Employees leave the lot in the morning (8am), returning in the afternoon (by 4pm).
  • No customers visiting the site
  • Waste collected from the business is either used onsite (as organic compost) or disposed of in a skip bin which is emptied quarterly
  • No industrial chemicals stored on the premises

The existing business cannot comply with the definition of a “Home Business” as it employs more than the maximum number of employees not members of the household and involves the presence of a vehicle more than 3.5 tonnes to manage waste disposal.

Following consultation with the City, the applicant has subsequently modified their applicant to comply with the land use definition. It is this modified application that is now advertised for comment. The details are outlined below:

  • Commercial gutter & roof cleaning business servicing the local area only
  • Business employs two (2) members of the household and two (2) additional employees
  • Three (3) vehicles and box trailers used for the business and parked within the lot when not in use
  • Study (16 m²) & shed (16 m²) used as part of business
  • Employees leave the lot in the morning (8am), returning in the afternoon (by 4pm).
  • No customers visiting the site
  • Organic waste (leaf matter) collected from customer sites is used onsite as organic compost
  • Non-organic waste is disposed of off-site, negating the use of a 3.5t tare weight vehicle and skip bin
  • No industrial chemicals stored on the premises
