The City has received the abovementioned proposal for consideration. The applicant is seeking development approval for additions to the Place of Worship at Lot 5 – 7 (No.84 – 88) Clayton Street, Bellevue.

The lot is zoned ‘Urban’ under the Metropolitan Region Scheme and ‘Residential’ with a density code of R20/40 under the City’s Local Planning Scheme No.17.

The lot is registered on the State Register of Heritage Places as ‘The Church of the Good Shepherd’ and therein is also listed as a ‘Category 1’ item within the Local Governments Municipal Inventory with respect to its heritage status.

The scope of works proposed does not seek to alter the existing church building, but is exclusively behind the heritage listed church, extending past the western end to be visible from Clayton Street.

The proposal is for the following:

  • A 72m2 extension to the hall
  • A 44m2 covered area
  • A veranda roof over the existing building entry and access ramp
  • Replace the external cladding of the building to match the proposed extension
