The City has received the abovementioned proposal for consideration.
Calder Hospitality Pty Ltd has lodged an application for ‘Extension to the Stirling Arms Hotel’ at lot 14 (No.117) James Street, Guildford.
The land is zoned ‘Urban’ under the Metropolitan Region Scheme and ‘General Commercial’ under the City’s Local Planning Scheme No.17. The proponent has opted for this to be determined by the Metro Outer Development Assessment Panel, notwithstanding – the City of Swan wishes to invite you to comment on this proposal.
The proposal can largely be summarised into three (3) main parts:
1. Front Café & Venue Extension
a) The café will extend into the adjacent building (formerly an antiques store)
b) The intention will be to offer breakfast and lunch options, including juices, pastries, etc.
c) There will be street level access and is intended to further activate James Street.
d) This café is expected to operate primarily between 7am to 2pm, outside the Hotel’s peak hours.
e) The estimated café capacity is 50-75 patrons.
2. Rear Family Dining & Nature-Based Playground Area
a) The internal rear area of the hotel is currently being used as an interim storage area and is proposed to be repurposed as a family-focused outdoor dining and play space.
b) This proposal includes the installation of child-safe fencing and gated access to maintain safety.
c) This family area is intended to be open:
i. 4pm – 9pm Monday – Thursday
ii. 10 am – 9pm Friday; and
iii. 9am – 7pm Saturday and Sunday
d) The estimated rear dining area’s capacity is 100 patrons.
3. General Venue Enhancements
a) New bathrooms
b) Internal restorations
c) Replacement of non-heritage tiling
d) All restoration works are guided by a Conservation Management Schedule.
The existing use as a Hotel is retained and the above items are being proposed as part of this application.
Prior to the City making it’s recommendation to the Development Assessment Panel, the City would like to invite you to make a comment on this proposal.
