The applicant is seeking development approval to modify the existing recessed door on the eastern side of the Hamilton building located at Lot 56 Terrace Road, Guildford.

In accordance with 9.4 of the City’s Local Planning Scheme No.17, incidental additions to an ‘Education Establishment’ that being an ‘A’ use in the 'Private Clubs & Recreation' zone and is therefore required to be advertised for not less than 14 days.

It is noted that the visual impact of the following changes is unlikely to be seen outside of the Guildford Grammar School grounds, scheme provisions require that it be advertised. The scope of works involved include:

  • Timber and glazed double entry door and timber frame to be removed.
  • New entry door to be installed.

Noting that this constitutes works that ultimately affect the external appearance of the building, it is not exempt from requiring planning approval within the Guildford Historic Township.
