The City of Swan has received a development application for an amendment to a previously approved farm shed at 446 O’Brien Road, Gidgegannup.

The proposal involves changing the size of the previously approved shed with a larger structure measuring approximately 20 metres by 40 metres (800m²) with a maximum height of 7.816 metres.

The shed will be 352.3 metres from the western boundary (O’Brien Road), 85.26 metres from the northern boundary and 312.5 metres from the southern boundary as depicted in the provided plans for assessment.

The shed is proposed to primarily be for the storage of farm equipment and vehicles, while also being partially used for an approved home business dedicated to the installation of vehicle accessories.

The subject land is zoned ‘General Rural’ under the City of Swan Local Planning Scheme No. 17. While sheds are generally consistent with the zoning, planning approval is required due to the scale of the structure.

The City is seeking feedback from nearby landowners, particularly in relation to the size and visual impact of the proposed shed.
