The City is seeking comments on a proposed front fence and external painting application submitted for Lot 86 (No.420) Great Eastern Highway, Woodbridge.


Details of the proposal include:

  • A front and side picket fence up to 2.1 metres
  • Repainting of external house


The front fence proposes the following variation to the Woodbridge Heritage Policy:

  • Clause 5.6 - Development within front setback areas: a front fence height of 2.1m is proposed in lieu of the permitted 1.8m for properties fronting Great Eastern Highway within the Woodbridge Conservation Area.


The front fence also proposes the following variations to the Residential Design Codes (R-Codes):

  • Clause 5.2.4 - Street walls and fences: fencing is proposed to be 1.8m solid (non-visually permeable) in lieu of the 1.2m solid fencing permitted under the Residential Design Codes.
  • Clause 5.2.5 Sightlines: the required sightlines have not been achieved, as the fence has not been reduced to 0.75m in height within 1.5m of where the fence meets the driveway.


Given the above variations, the City is seeking feedback from affected surrounding landowners.
