The City has received a development application for a proposed carport to be located on Lot 1062 (No.9) Kybra Grove, Stratton.

The applicant is proposing for the carport to be located within the front street setback area in front of the dwelling in variation to the as-of-right requirements of the Residential Design Codes - 5.2.1 Setback of Carports and Garages:

  • A 0-metre setback is proposed for the street boundary in lieu of the 6-metre requirement for R20-zoned land.

The City is therefore conducting alternative merit-based assessments against the design principles due to the above variation. The merit-based assessment is against the following design principle:

P1.1 Carports and garages set back to maintain clear sightlines along the street, to not obstruct views of dwellings from the street and vice versa, and designed to contribute positively to streetscapes and to the appearance of dwellings.

The City is seeking feedback in relation to the proposed variation from affected landowners.
