The City of Swan is proposing to install a roundabout at the intersection of Beach Road and Bonner Drive as a road safety initiative project to:

• Improve safety for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians; and

• Provide better access to and from Bonner Drive

We understand that these changes impact nearby residents and businesses and welcome feedback on the proposed changes. Feedback from this engagement will inform further planning and ensure the proposed upgrades consider the needs of those in the area and/or use the intersection regularly.

Project Background

There have been 29 crashes reported in Main Roads WA (MRWA) crash records at this intersection between 2020 and 2024, including 13 severe crashes.

Beach Road and Bonner Drive have unusually high traffic volumes and the intersection of the two roads is controlled using give-way signs and line marking. This form of intersection control is now inadequate to safely manage traffic at this intersection, and an alternative intersection type is needed.

Please note that this is still indicative design, and is subject to detailed design.
